Hunting & tracks

Reading tracks, hunting with bow and spear, setting traps and skinning.

A good hunter spots an animal before the animal spots him. With Look for tracks you search the surrounding ground for paw prints.

Searching for tracks

Look at the ground, up to 150 metres away, and search for five seconds. You will see up to six trails of paw prints, and the game tells you which compass direction they lead in.

  • Tracks of peaceful animals are visible from level 0.
  • Tracks of wolves, bears and boars only become visible from Huntcraft 60.
  • The search area grows with your skill: 30 metres plus 0.3 metres per level.

Hunting

  • Bow: right-click to draw, left-click to release. Arrows drop under gravity and spread.
  • Throwing spear, throwing axe, throwing knife, sling.
  • Snares and animal traps.

Skinning and processing

Skin a carcass with a knife. Tanning processes meat, hide, fat and bone. The drying rack dries hides, and the tanning vat turns them into leather.
